Hello! Thank you for your interest!
Ever since I was 15 years old I wanted to be a writer and am fortunate to have lived my dream professionally for more than 30 years. Following college graduation with a double degree in Journalism and French, I worked at a local radio station covering weekly school board and city council meetings, giving me experience writing short and concise news pieces for airtime. I later went to work for the Burlington Free Press, Vermont’s largest newspaper, covering a broad spectrum of issues, including statewide politics, criminal trials, and environmental issues. As a freelance reporter, I frequently was given assignments with a long back story, requiring me to quickly familiarize myself with the topic in order to write a factually accurate news article.
At the American Morgan Horse Association, I began as a part-time editorial assistant for The Morgan Horse magazine and worked my way up to managing editor. This gave me daily experience in writing, editing, and proofreading for an international monthly publication. In 2008, I took the job of communications specialist and was the primary public relations liaison between the association, its members, and the general public. I wrote articles for national publications, press releases, and other media-related material. I was the editor and primary writer responsible for www.morganhorse.com and all social media sites, and served as the editor of the association’s weekly digital newsletter.
For five years I authored the website, “My Vermont Kitchen, where I introduced a new recipe to readers every week. This allowed me to work on my creative side, both in and out of the kitchen. I was recognized by Cooking Light magazine to be part of its “Blogger’s Connection,” where my blog was linked to the magazine’s website. I have proofread manuscripts and moderated numerous literary events with New York Time’s best-selling authors. My most recent in-person event was at the 2019 Boston Book Festival with a panel of four authors: Jenna Blum, Ramin Ganeshram, Crystal King, and Louise Miller, where we discussed food in literature.
I look forward to putting my diverse skills and talents to work for your business or organization!
